I am strongly opposed to the government's plan to expand the powers of the MZOs as tabled in Bill 257. This government has already shown its reckless use of MZOs to fast-track developments in sensitive wetlands. I fear that the proposed changes to the MZO process will have negative consequences for Ontario's natural spaces and environmental services. Further, this change will also further legitimize this government's overuse of this planning tool to skirt environmental regulations.
I do not support this bill and urge the Ford government to rethink it's course of action.
