How do we ensure the Minister's zoning order won't be used to bypass environmental and heritage protections and other protective measures/tools? I'm referring to the recent destruction of the heritage foundry buildings in Toronto. That was heritage designated property and a Minister's zoning order was used to bypass its protections.
Also, there's the development in New Tecumseth for which a flooding assessment wasn't done, but there are plans to build a new development anyway.
I'm not against urban development, but let's try to ensure we do a comprehensive risk assessment of our plans before initiating projects. Recent usage of the MZO seems to be bypassing that risk assessment step.
(Also, next time, please don't use examples that are so obviously beneficial to present your proposal in a positive light to sell your change. It's too manipulative.)
