It is clear that the environment in Ontario is currently at risk from encroachments by development. While economic viability is important in this province, destroying any vulnerable areas in the interest of acquiring industry and jobs is not justifiable. Allowing MZO's is endangering wildlife and .environmentally sensitive areas, as well as destroying agricultural land. MZO's also subverts the democratic structure of this province, taking power from the residents in affected areas, and putting decisions into the hands of the minister, with no consultation. While this government wants to be "open for business" it cannot be at the expense of our natural resources and the rights of its citizenry. Schedule 3 must be removed from Bill 257.
