I would like to go on record as strongly opposed to the exempting of Minister’s Zoning orders (MZOs) from complying with the Provincial Policy Statement (PPS) and, further, to the abuse of MZOs in general. Taking away the involvement of local planning officials and affected residents is, in my opinion, undemocratic.
Any attempt to make the legislation retroactive makes it doubly so.
This is not about speeding up a slow process but about bigger profits and less or no accountability for the environment, our heritage, schools, hospitals and all the other infrastructure items that planners and residents fight for.
