Continued development of pockets of the Oak Ridges trail and Moraine is an example of what MUST stop if we are to have any wildlife in our midst around the urban centres in Ontario. Greenbelt land MUST be preserved, protected and extended as well as partnering with First Nations Peoples to develop stewardship of these terrains, such as the Mushkegowak Marine project proposal.
Legislation like Bills 257, 197, Schedule 6 and 8, or the logging in Algonquin Park, to reduce environmental studies is a political travesty which puts capitalism before environmental necessities, such as recent Lower Duffins Creek wetland development attempts have shown. This government needs to listen to the increasing wave of Ontarians including many professional bodies and corporations, who are begging for a future with nature and wildlife for their children and generations to come that isn't a zoo entry fee or archived images on the internet. Redirect funding to create employment in green energies, infrastructure improvements such as repurposing existing single use plastics, and providing incentives for commercial container reuse programs that change lifestyle choices are all ways to save our environment, climate and planet.
