I support expanding the greenbelt as much as possible to protect natural spaces for the people living in Southern Ontario. Now more than ever, we need to understand the value of green spaces for our health, the health of animals and plants, for peoples' mental health, for climate change mitigation. Too much of the time we give precedence to developers and to the idea of the value of the land for development vs. "giving it up" for parkland. But there is value to that, and it's especially important in Southern Ontario where it is already densely developed. It takes some guts to stand up for nature and the greenbelt, and it is short-sighted at best and corrupt at worst when politicians game the system to allow development in restricted and sensitive areas.
