As a citizen of the Town of Collingwood and Town for over 30 years , I'm very concerned with the number of developments currently on the books for the coming 5 years. These are going to increase the number of residents inmour Town by over 5000 new homes in less than 5 years. We do not have the infrastructure in place for this increase yet each time I go to a Town meeting about development the planner quote the Povincial policy plan and say that the province mandates that they accept these new developme ts with this insanelevel of growth. I believe we need to step back and re-acess. Collingwood borders the county line with Simcoe and Grey County and. the small hamlet of Craigleith is on that line and Georgian Bay. They have also already processed and authorized at least 5 different subdivisons that i am aware of that will also bring more than 5000 new homes to this environment in less than 5 years. Hwy 26 is a 2 lane hwy that travels through this area just off the shoreline of Georgian Bay for the most part. Ministry of Transport has been studying this Hwy for more than 25 years as it needs to be either changed to a 4 to 5 lane Hwy or a bypass constructed. Nothing has been done to allieviate the traffic concerns that are currently so lethal the Town has requested the speed limit to be reduced to 50. I am very worried that we will have Toronto like congestion in the next year or so as some of these developments are completed. We are not taking care to protect our wetlands. The Environment Network in Collingwood has been working for many years to protect the wildlife in the many wetlands on Georgian Bay but we are now allowing development to be allowed in the Silvercreek area which has always been protected wetlands. Please make the decision to increase the Greenbelt into Simcoe County up all the way to Georgian Bay. it is imperative we proctect this natural environment for our children and their children. Please make it happen not only for LakeSimcoe but also for SouthernGeorgian Bay.
