Of great importance are headwaters of watersheds excluded from the Greenbelt earlier, in "whitebelt" lands and under threat of development.
An urgent example is the Carruthers Creek, which should have been included in the Greenbelt in 2005 and there is an opportunity now to address that.
All headwaters of all watersheds as well as creek valleys/systems within what are currently "whitebelt" lands should be protected and where not included in previous Greenbelt mapping/plan, should be as per protect as per updated mapping in watershed plans so as to provide permanent protection.
Another example of area under threat is the urban separator between Courtice and Bowmanville, in Clarington.
Highway 407 East cuts across multiple watersheds. The Highway 418 link between Highways 401 and 407 has caused tremendous devastation to the Black-Farewell wetlands and watershed already and what remains must be protected.
