I have not had time to study the entire Greenbelt proposal but I am seeing the effects of widespread development in many areas of Ontario .It seems like farms orchards and other areas that would produce food are being destroyed as well as the native forests. it is very important to contain development to existing towns and villages instead of rampantly allowing houses and developments to spread out along highways and every road.
This also puts a huge stress on municipal services.
There need to be more laws in place that prevent large scale destruction of trees with no emphasis on re-planting trees.
Trees are the most effective carbon reducing natural things that we have to help prevent climate change.
I am constantly shocked that developers are allowed to rip down the native forest in creating these horrible subdivisions.
I have seen this over and over again in many of the towns and villages.
This also causes extreme water runoff and in many cases floods.
