Conservation authorities should be provided with broad freedom and funding and protected from regulatory hurdles to carry out their work as they deem necessary for supporting ecological health (for example by protecting ecosystem services and ecological integrity related to forests, waters, soils, and biodiversity), on a wide scale. Their freedom to act based on scientific principals will protect our communities and the environment for current and future generations.
In my work as an environmental researcher and educator I have learned first-hand how vital conservation authorities are for protecting clean air, clean water, and thriving ecosystems upon which we all rely. The regulatory proposals that impose additional obstacles to their work should not be passed.
