I am opposed to any decreases in funding to the Ontario Conservation Authorities. If anything, we should be increasing the funding to encourage an interest in our natural spaces and encourage use by the public.
Conservation Authorities have already experienced previous deep cuts and are being forced to increase user fees among other means to increase their revenues to operate. Increases in user fees discourages interest in exploring natural areas.
Mental health has been severely affected by the pandemic and being outside, in nature us good for everyone. We don’t want to discourage that by any increase in user fees. The government must step up and fund these very important entities.
