Conservation authorities are vital in our communities. While not necessarily monetarily profitable, their value lies in the services they provide to both ecosystems and the communities that use these spaces recreationally. Unfortunately, money makes the world go 'round, and conservation authorities need support from their communities so that the cost of upholding these vital natural spaces and providing educational opportunities for audiences of all ages does not solely fall on individuals who wish to make use of these areas that should be accessible to nearby communities. The cost of their maintenance (deadfall, hazard trees, trail maintenance) and accessible education programming should not become a deterrent to those who wish to explore.
