As a young professional from a rural community west of Ottawa, I know that we must protect our environment with everything that we’ve got as a society. The historic 2017 flooding in the local area proved that climate change had tangible impacts on our part of the world.
Therefore, I think that your government should review and reject your current proposal to eliminate the Cap and Trade system that was institgated under the former Wynne government. It’s multitude of benefits to several parts of our society (education, infrastructure, green energy projects, home efficiency projects, etc).
Government should extend beyond electoral mantra and enact legislation that benefits Ontarians as a whole. Saving $10 cents per litre of gas is an admirable goal; however, that could also be achieved through the elimination of HST from gasoline purchases.
