I think that adding specific powers to conservation authorities for source water protection beyond the Clean Water Act is not appropriate. The Conservation Authorities, at least in our area, do not have a great understanding of the specific limitations of implementation for business, the municipality, or even an individual. They promote idealized goals without a full understanding of the work that is actually being done. They are ignorant to work that has made an impact and the work of other teams beyond their own. Adding more responsibility and authority to these teams is not a step I think would be beneficial.
