I think the state of the environment is the most pressing issue currently. We are rushing towards global destruction and we are electing "leaders" who are actively advancing the damage. Not only are they not helping to address global crisis, they are actively taking steps to accelerate the destruction of human existence. The Ford government's cessation of Ontario's cap and trade is one of those accelerants. Frankly, this move is so detrimental to human existence, I don't understand how it can even be legal to stop it. It's genocide.
I'm not going to list all the benefits of this program. They are many and there are a number listed on your home page. Anyone not familiar with the program has only to look to California to see the success of this initiative in action. They have reached their emission goals two years in advance of projections. They've set more goals. They look to the future.
I project that Ford's government will hasten the rape and pillage of Ontario's green spaces and natural resources. He has declared that Ontario is "open for business", but as the Huffington Post reports, Ford has slammed the brakes on a “grand economic transformation (that) could bring a $26 trillion economic windfall, create 65 million new jobs, and avoid 700,000 early deaths linked to air pollution ― by a conservative estimate.” Open for business, but not green business apparently.
We are at a time in the history of our planet when talking about doing something for the environment has long passed. Ontario is now doing nothing because of an act of political revenge. No other environmental plan has been put forth. I am appalled that one ignorant little bully can wield such power and such destruction. It's genocide.
