This plan is insufficient. The exclusion from consideration of the Paris Galt Moraine undermines the most important part of this attempt to grow the greenbelt. Groundwater source protection is critical, and while there is nothing wrong with a consideration of urban river valleys, this is clearly less important than protecting groundwater aquifers. Furthermore, while I am supportive of protecting urban river valleys, this proposal will be entirely ineffective if it can only be applied to public lands. Private land must also be bound by the proposed policies. I sincerely hope the government will urgently reconsider this decision to exclude the Moraine, and move to include it in the greenbelt as soon as possible.
