I fully support getting more middle housing. Letting people of different income levels live in the same area is important for ensuring equality. Otherwise, people get isolated into their own socioeconomic bubble, including children who attend schools based on their neighbourhood.
Middle-tier housing could also make neighbourhoods denser without denying people the ability to have single-family detached homes if they want them. Denser neighbourhoods would make it easier to bike and walk places, and easier to get more public transit to pay attention to an area. Right now, living in a suburb is incredibly isolating to anyone who doesn’t own a car.
