I feel it is very important to hold that boundary and not to expand onto our valuable farmland . The builders say that we need housing for thousands more people who are expected to arrive in the Hamilton area in the future. My question is, “ how are we going to feed these people if we pave over our fertile soil”? We can infill our city in smart, creative ways but we can never replace our farmland. We cannot count on imported food coming from countries that are already suffering from drought or flooding.
Environmental situations will get worse and we have got to be prepared to feed ourselves locally.
