We are homebuilders and developers who live and work in Hamilton. We own lands in the Elfrida area. We are not land speculators. We are long-standing members of the Hamilton community and, have constructed a very significant number of homes in our City. We have been building homes in Hamilton and surrounding area for more than 40 years.
We directly employ about 40 people including professionals, support staff, sales staff and trades people together with the suppliers and the trade companies that are required to build 150+ homes per year. We build ground-oriented homes, being 40% single family and 60% townhomes. We build communities which in turn become part of our city.
The Council of the City of Hamilton chose to reject an urban boundary expansion rather than abide by the policy of the Province of Ontario with regard to providing choice of housing type.
We ask that the Province rewrite the City of Hamilton Official Plan Amendments currently under review by the Ministry to mandate an urban boundary expansion as recommended by Hamilton’s professional planning staff referred to as the Ambitious Density Scenario.
We also ask that in rewriting Hamilton’s Official Plan Amendments, that the process of expanding the urban boundary and the ensuing development process required to actually provide the so desperately housing will not be frustrated or derailed by special interest groups who simply do not want to have any further greenfield development no matter how environmentally sound and efficient it may be.
