I am supportive of the revocation of the Parkway Belt West Plan (PBWP). The PBWP adds an unnecessary layer of administrative burden, and its revocation will help to streamline and speed up the approvals process. Too often, landowners are waiting months at a time for an approval for a PBWP amendment application before they are able to receive approvals for their local development applications.
As mentioned in the ERO posting, the PBWP has been amended over 200 times since its implementation and has seen a 43% reduction in size of the PBWP’s original area, which bring questions around the validity and currency for keeping the PBWP in place. Many land use policies offering protection for infrastructure corridors, natural heritage, agriculture, and parks and open space can be found in other provincial plans, effectively rendering the PBWP redundant and out-of-date.
