Lands should not be removed from the Greenbelt for any reason. These areas protect ecological areas, and wildlife. Housing can very easily be built in areas that aren't in the Greenbelt through densification of existing lands. Not everywhere needs to consist of massive houses and building more of these will not solve the housing crisis. These homes are too expensive and end up being bought by foreign investors and not people who want to live in them. It was promised by the minister that no lands would be removed from the Greenbelt last year so this is a blatant violation of the government's commitments that they were not given a mandate for. If this was your plan it should have been presented to the public before the election so they could make an educated decision when voting. Instead you chose to lie to get elected which is unacceptable
