I do not understand why both new homes and conservation cannot coexist. We do not support this shortcut. I am tired to seeing our natural areas clear cut to make way for cookie cutter homes when there are many older homes that could be renovated if there are incentives. I am a landlord who has spent money to redo a 70 year old home in Windsor with no incentive.
We live next to a provincially significant wetland that is not actively protected from an owner who fills in wetland and cuts trees and vegetation for no reason expect to increase our flood risk and to eliminate habitat for the animals that are left . Why would we lessen protection as climate change worsens? We have to find a way to increase housing while protecting natural areas.
