Climate change cannot be denied, and the Repeal of the Green Energy Act will only serve to worsen this issue. As a province, we should be doing everything in our power to promote green energy and sustainable practices and this action will reverse many evidence-based efforts to reduce the rate of climate change that is already occurring. I am a lifelong citizen of Ontario, and believe that the government should actively promote ways to protect our environment, and repealing this legislation is definitely not one of them. There are active steps that can be taken to amend the Green Energy Act in order to make it more financially feasible and more easily implementable, rather than cancelling it completely. With the correct expertise and consultation with stakeholders and academics in environmental studies, we will be able to develop a new piece of legislation that protects the environment, limits costs and reduces burden from all parties.
