As a previous resident of Pickering, now living in Toronto, I can say how valuable these lands are to remain as is. The protection of these lands is imperative to the natural world around us. In years to come we will be welcomed by floods and poorly drained neighborhoods, and the existing ones will suffer.
Also, Pickering already cannot handle the amount of traffic and congestion with the current population. Sticking a 407 entrance north of Pickering hasn't really helped. It takes me 40 minutes to get across Pickering at peak times. Usually takes me 10.
