The removal of any land from the greenbelt for urban sprawl defeats the purpose of the green belt. This proposal is a way of opening up areas for development to make billions for the wealthy and is disturbing to the core. The greenbelt is there to protect the erosion of our green space from unrelenting growth. Not all of us can drive to wilderness areas to experience nature and I often walk these areas by catching public transit. We have to rethink and build affordable housing within the city. There is plently of space within Toronto boundaries to build on. There are bownfield industrial areas and places falling apart. Building on any greenbelt area is a mistake that will cause future generations to suffer.
