As a resident of Toronto, Ontario I am horrified that any houses or building plans will be laid on the territory of the current green belt. This is a short sited, money hungry grab to line the pockets of investors and corporations.
It is not in the best interest of citizens who will not be able to afford these homes nor easily commute from them. It will destroy precious land that keeps our climate controlled, that already houses creatures and flora who keep our ecology in check. This ecology is positive for the health of residents. Green spaces need to exist to protect the planet so we can continue to live here.
Protect the green belt by not amending. Do not build on it. Grow in the province in the empty buildings which exist.
If you build, no resident could buy. It would kill thousands of creatures and flora and significant habitat for nothing. It is greed. It is not growth. It does not benefit anyone, it does the opposite.
