Opening up Greenbelt areas for development is completely unnecessary. There is so much unused/underused land in the GTA that can be developed to accommodate additional housing, in areas that already often have utilities and transportation infrastructure. This policy will increase urban sprawl, making traffic and air pollution worse, and place additional fiscal burden on municipalities to support low-density suburbs, which are usually insolvent. It is an environmental and economic mistake.
