There are many other ways to create available housing than ripping into the Greenbelt. There is a ton of land across Ontario that’s zoned EXLCUSIVELY for single-family homes or commercial strip malls. There are opportunities to density these areas.
Please also consider as-of-right zoning not only for existing unit conversions, but for new missing middle construction, higher densities on major arterial roads, etc.
Exploiting the greenbelt for new housing is incredibly tone-deaf especially during the current climate crisis. If the amendments do unfortunately pass, I have little trust that our current government will use the land diligently instead of opting for the method of least resistance and building miles of urban sprawl on it.
