Cutting into critical environment on the moraine is not at all remediated by establishing protected lands in a different area. The decision to build on the existing Greenbelt is a bad one. Not only from an environmental standpoint but also from an economic one. Building over wetlands has never, and will never be an effective land usage strategy. Any homes built over these lands will be plagued with water damage, not to mention the increased risk of flooding throughout the watershed if critical wetlands are destroyed. The Ford government needs to stop pandering to development companies. The Ontario public has never been so underserved as it has with the Ford government.
