To whom it may concern,

I am writing to express my deep concern and dissent regarding proposed changes to the greenbelt plan that would open up 7400 acres of protected lands.

As a millennial renter in Ontario I am acutely aware of issues related to affordable housing but condemning protected green spaces to development seems like an unconscionable solution in the face of a global climate crisis.

The environmental impacts of this change are better spoken to by an expert, but anyone can see the irreparable damage to the environment development across the province has caused, not to mention the reduction in green spaces and waterways we can all benefit and enjoy within driving distance of urban centres. Not to mention the impact this change will have on relationships with indigenous communities in the proposed regions.

I strongly disagree with the proposed change and call on those within the provincial government to stand against this flagrant money making scheme benefiting a small few at the detriment of our and our ecosystems’ health. I call on them to vote against this proposal and to protect the green spaces in this province for both present and future generations.
