1. The ontario government has promised not to open the greenbelt for development and have since flipped your decision. How is that committment? Why should we trust that this is for the betterment of Ontario when the government does not show good faith. You should provide a good reason why you have changed your mind. And it should go beyond just "we heard the people". Who are the people? Where are they? Why can't we solve the problem where these people are instead of building something that requires them to uproot.
2. The greenbelt exists for a very good reason. Please consider all the ecosystem services that it provides to the people of Ontario if not the wildlife of our province.
3. The proposal will net us 50000 or more homes in the greater golden horseshoe. Where the housing crisis exists, the individuals who need homes. Where do they work? Where do they live now? Does the 7400 acres of land that you are thinking of sacraficing help 50000 or more families? Will they have the services they need or will we be further putting stress on the facilies of other cities?
4. It's likely there families will need to drive to work, school and be heavily car dependent. If we're simply building a suburb could we not spend the time and resources in developing other land or the grey belt? Was this considered?
5. Should we not be building complete communities instead of suburbs?
