The greenbelt needs to be protected. This is valuable land that, once developed, we can never get back. Building housing here will only add to the urban sprawl that we are already suffering under. Smart density is the answer to housing issues. We need more walkable communities, not more spread and hours spent stuck in traffic. This amendment will benefit wealthy developers and no one else. With climate change and our future being so uncertain we need to protect green space and farmland.
Government should be doing what is best for all Ontarians, not working to line the pockets of the already wealthy. As we are all struggling with the cost of living and what feels like the start of societal collapse, this feels like a theft from all of us. Protect the greenbelt - do not allow development.
