To whom it may concern
I would like to voice my strong concern about the current provincial government’s plans to amend legislation and allow for development of the current Greenbelt. The only amendments should be to increase the size, not swap sections here and there. The point of the conservation is to protect biodiversity, something that cannot be done if pieces are carved off and added back in based on development plans vs. scientific evidence.
Back in 2018 when the Conservatives first broached the topic they quickly reversed course after massive public outrage. In 2022, we are not in a better position in terms of climate change, but worse. Don’t take advantage of public fatigue and hope folks won’t notice. Build additional homes in cities that have pre-existing infrastructure and leave the Greenbelt out of the development plans.
