I do not agree with deciding to remove certain areas within the greenbelt itself and no longer calling them greenbelt areas and deciding to designate other newer areas as greenbelt areas for the purpose of building housing in Ontario. I do not think that the premier of Ontario should have the right to do this. Not only that, but he is not an expert, nor is he qualified to decide which areas should be designated greenbelt and which areas should not be designated greenbelt. A dangerous precedent is being set. Will the greenbelt be rearranged again in the future in order to accommodate more housing development within Ontario ? There are much less biodiverse areas in Ontario to build housing on than this protected greenbelt area. Why is the greenbelt being chosen to build houses on over other less biodiverse areas ? I do not think any type of housing or further development should occur on the greenbelt. I think that the premier of Ontario should honour his promise to "not touch" the greenbelt at all.
