I am strongly opposed to the proposed changes to the Greenbelt outlined in ERO 019-6216. While Ontario (esp. the GTA) does need more housing, the types of developments that this proposal will facilitate are not what is needed. These rezoned areas will be utilized for low-density, high cost suburban development that is priced out of reach of the average Ontarian, and that serve only to increase sprawl (in turn leading to further traffic and smog issues across the region). Mid-high density urban or near-urban development with an appropriate mix of living and retail space, as well as mixed price point/affordability is what is actually required, not bulldozing green space to create more wealthy, space-inefficient suburbs.
