Expanding into the greenbelt is not the solution to our housing woes. We already have well built cities with solid infrastructure that we can leverage and invest in if we opt to densify the housing options in areas that have already been developed. Creating new housing out in the greenbelt will just create more sprawl and lead to bedroom communities that lack the support of grocery stores, small businesses and parks that we already have. Expanding into the greenbelt is a bandaid fix that will rob future generations of one of our natural treasures while kicking the bucket of sustainable housing down the line a few years.
