Bill 4 should not proceed. As a member and company involved in the growing Ontario based CleanTech space the Cap & Trade initiative provided;
1) A meaningful impact on GHG reduction - which is at the core of the effort to addressing climate change.
2) Stimulus to create and develop a new industry that employs Ontarians. In fact, over 50,000 jobs were created under this program to date.
3) Over 18 months C&T brought $2.9B in revenue - which is largely recurring to ON
4) Placed ON in a lead position in a globally competitive and growing market place for Clean Technologies
This a summary of points but they come from the report and information already created at taxpayers expense. Not to use these data driven conclusions to make policy would be tragic for our economy and environment.
Please make rational decisions but I believe that choosing to continue Cap & Trade is aligned with the current government's intent if not the immediate actions taken. It is also aligned with a positive future for all of Ontario.
