Build up, not out. Greenbelts and community green space are vital to both the well-being of a community and to the environment in the long term.
Instead, why not increase the density of housing in the already existing sprawl (of which there is A LOT). Multi-unit homes and apartments are both more affordable for new home buyers and more sustainable. Finally, more urban density offers more opportunities for mixed-use buildings with both businesses and housing that lead to vibrant and thriving communities.
