I oppose the use of the Greenbelt for Urban Boundary expansion. I also oppose the mandate that Hamilton MUST expand its Urban Boundaries, this expansion will not solve housing, as these homes will be unaffordable to those who need housing most and we should be focusing on building up, not out. Furthermore, we are losing more and more farmable land to development, land that is needed for future generations. This expansion was voted against by a majority of Hamilton voters as the two candidates with a majority of the vote opposed boundary expansion. New housing should be built in existing urban areas, that are accessible by public transit and made affordable for new buyers.
