I am a resident of King City, and I am in utter opposition to this proposal.
I understand the need for more housing, but all this accomplishes is increased sprawl at the expense of sensitive habitats, and places said sprawl at increases risk of flooding and poor water security. The writing is on the wall that densification of existing zoning is needed, and performing a land swap on the Greenbelt, regardless of if it creates a net positive, sets a slippery precedent that erodes the protected status of that area.
My alternate proposals are the aforementioned densification of southern Ontario suburbs by increasing local storey limits, or by investing in housing in northern cities that are more affordable and are clamoring for economic growth.
