I believe that any reduction or reclassification of any part of the greenbelt for more suburban development severely compromises the integrity and intention of the greenbelt and would break longstanding commitments held by the current and previous goverments. The provincial government should not be aiding any municipality in expanding in the form of massive tracts of freehold homes or townhouses, it should be providing resources to redevolop existing non-greenbelt land as densified housing like condos and apartments, by provincial mandate if necessary. As a long time resident of Milton Ontario and constituent of Parm Gill I have seen this sort of unchecked development eat up the countryside with souless poorly serviced neighborhoods, it should not be allowed to happen in other municipalities and certainly not on established greenbelt land.
