Ontario is a vast province. We should preserve the green belt, and especially it’s agricultural space, for future generations.
We can improve housing supply without impacting green belt. We can zone for (and this government has demonstrated it can override municipalities) high density housing.
We can also encourage investment in communities that are not in the GTA, and make them more attractive to newcomers to our country.
The GTA does not need more urban sprawl. Already, the infrastructure struggles to cope with the vast distances people travel on a daily basis for work and pleasure. We cannot continue to build suburbia.
There is no need to change the green belt - unless there is a proposal to make it bigger.
