Some of these cuts, by design, will lead to more cuts in the future. So don't think you are fooling anyone. A lot more land needs to be added if this is to be done in good faith.

The green belt is meant to protect against urban sprawl, so the parts that are in the city must be maintained. It helps break up the city, provide easy access to nature, allow our kids to learn about complex ecosystems, cut down on noise pollution, light pollution, automobile pollution, and whatever else that comes with too much densification. These proposals are short-sighted and expensive developments.

What we need is more affordable housing. Homes that are built further away, and homes that are built upwards. These can then serve as strong investment vehicles for hard working individuals, as they can actually afford them.

We will never get this back once we destroy this. Please understand climate change, and please understand we need to build further away. In both, the time sense, as well as the physical sense.

It may not be convenient for the contractors, and it'll certainly make less money, but Canada is a big country, and we are blessed with the ability to create cities mixed in with nature. If this can be figured out, then many others will look to you in their planning of cities. Think of your future, as well as everyone else's. Don't stake your reputation on short term gains.
