I have proudly lived in Hamilton for 20+ years and have seen he city at its best and worst. I agreed wholeheartedly with our city council when they followed the will of the residents by opposing the expansion of our urban boundary. I have the following comments:
- We have plenty of land within the urban boundary to intensify.
- Not all development needs to be row after row of cookie cutter single family homes in unworkable neighbourhoods. This does nothing to build a community.
- Urban sprawl puts pressure on our transportation infrastructure, creates more traffic, and is horrible for the environment.
- We have little area farmland left and paving over what is left is a huge loss for our community.
- Part of the great reason for living in place like Hamilton is the proximity to lovely greenspace.
- I voted Conservative in the last election and feel taken. The Premier vehemently denied that he would alter the greenbelt and - I never would have voted for him if he had stated otherwise and wo;y again now because of this.
