Please leave the Greenbelt intact! There is plenty of land to build affordable housing.
People who need housing the most are not going to benefit from land on the Greenbelt. They need housing with access to services in existing dense neighbourhoods. That should be the number one priority.
This focus on Greenbelt land makes it clear that the priorities are for enriching developers at the expense of the environment and a sense of urgency around housing workers.
If you want nurses, where are the developments near hospitals? If you want minimum wage employees, where are the $850 a month apartments? If you want to end homelessness, where are the investments in social housing with access to services? Everything else should be on the back burner, especially the Greenbelt, which should be an absolute last resort. This government’s priorities are clearly upside down.
