It is distressing that the bold action of the government is not to protect future generations but rather to make a short term decision to chip away at the public green space. Despite the portrayal by the government of increasing the Greenbelt it is swapping lands like a cheap carnival trick. It should be protecting the Greenbelt we have and adding, without taking away.
Why doesn’t the government take bold action on protecting more Greenbelt without acting like a charlatan? Why doesn’t the government take bold action on a sustainable local food plan? Why doesn’t the government take bold action on climate change? The government should be increasing density beyond its proposals and stop selling sprawl which has land been recognized as a detriment to the public good. This proposal by the government is short sighted and lacking vision. It will prove a detriment to the province in the long term.
