Using the current housing crisis is a shameful way of justifying bowing to the pressure of developers to create more urban sprawl in an area that has been designated as environmentally protected, for good reason.
The morraine lands and our watershed need to be protected, as does our farm land. Water and food are equally as important as housing. There are plenty of other areas that could be developed through intensification and government assistance. We do not need a pile of uninspired town homes creeping across the landscape.
There is no advantage to creating housing quickly at the expense responsible planning; it will only create more infastructure and environmental issues later.
