This plan is not going to solve the housing affordability crisis in Ontario; it’s wrong-headed and merely puts more money in the pockets of real estate developers, not everyday Ontarian families who need a home.
My husband and I are still waiting for the right opportunity to start a family because, like many others in our cohort, we’ve been shafted by the missing middle housing problem in this province. We don’t want to own a car. We don’t want to live in the middle of nowhere and have to drive everywhere. We want to live in a more densities city, with healthy transit and cycling infrastructure.
Put this money somewhere more useful, and fund densification in city exurbs — not in destroying the Greenbelt. Otherwise, you’ll be losing a Conservative voter forever, and NEVER converting a moderate voter.
