We don't have a housing problem. We have a distribution problem.

A quick walk will show you scores of empty lots, abandoned houses and empty skyscrapers with places anyone could live but most cannot afford.

The government should legislate proportionate caps on how much property private individuals and families can own and how much they can earn from these as well. They should also legislate that multiple property owners must legislate at least 50% of earnings or property spaces towards affordable housing. If you bring minimum wage up to livable wage you'll also see a marked reduction in homelessness.

Seriously, walk along Yonge Street and around Bay/Bloor and see how many shuttered businesses and new building projects sit empty. Walk along Parliament and Gerrard and see what happened to Regent Park. Look up the Medallion and Metcap owners, read what the negative reviews say.

If you have the people in charge earning current minimum wage you'll see how quickly they find housing that already exists but is unused. This problem exists because of an unsustainable distribution of wealth and resources. Let the greedy continue to run the show and you'll see them pull the same stunts on the moon.
