Taking over the greenbelt for construction of homes is an irresponsible approach to tackling our housing issue. Building on protected green lands is unacceptable given the environmental climate. The housing issue should and can be solved using already developed lands, consider transit oriented development, consider gentle densification and infill. I am strongly against this proposal, and would suggest to have public consultation with environmental bodies along with environmentalists, urbanists or other experts along with the public to discuss responsible solutions. Building fast, contributing to sprawl, and taking away protected greenbelt is not the answer.
